I made you a forum for it too. If you want to you can copy and paste articles as well. At least I think you can. I don't know why you couldn't. Ever thought about going into research or working at Autism Speaks? How old are you BTW?

Ever thought about going into research or working at Autism Speaks? How old are you BTW? I am 23 years old. I don't know if I can go into research, since it would cost more money and it's difficult to find a job, and Autism Speaks doesn't directly do research.

My oldest daughter just graduated as did her fiance and my younger daughter is about to go. Nobody around here has any money. My oldest and her old man both got financial aid. FASFA its called here. My youngest is working on filling hers out but she is still very undecided about where to go. She wants to go to a smaller four year university near here but will need to live on campus the first year and we won't have that money till March. She could go to the THE University + Roll Tide - but doesn't want to start there if she can switch to the smaller private one she wants. I pushed her taking some kind of basic class she needs at the Community College just to get on out of the house but I don't know what she will do. The CC transfers credit for those classes so I wish she would.
Can you get financial aid or a grant or if you go ahead and talk to some places before going back to school and are pretty sure of getting work then I'd say take out a student loan. Do it now while you are young enough to. I went the first time at 20 and the second time at 24. Quit both times shortly before finishing - different degrees - and was sure I'd go back. I'm 51 and I'm damn sure not doing it now. I have no desire to at this point in my life.
Do whatever it is you gotta do to get your butt back in school. My oldest son is 26 and he's working at a factory and he would have been done by now if he hadn't quit right after the first semester. He can't now, he's got a baby, a baby mama and a gf. His IQ is 156. I kid you not. He was going to Sylvan and they did it there. He wanted to be an engineer like both his grandfather's but he makes about $16 bucks an hour building German car parts 12 hours a day. Huge difference in his life that a few years could have changed. You think about that before you decide.
I love him,I'm proud of him and I'm glad he's happy but I would have liked to see him have the easier life that he would have had in many respects I'd he just hadn't quit college.
Think about it hon. It's important. You do you.

Why cure us when we are not broken? Sure, it would be good if we had it easier but there are a lot of good features that come along with being Autistic.

We see the world differently, we see things other miss. We have talents others don't. We teach people acceptance (those who chose to learn from us). We inspire people. Mozart was thought to have Autism. There is this a girl with non-verbal Autism. Sure, she can't talk but boy can she paint. The world is a better place because we are here. Here's the link to the paintings: www.facebook.com/candywatersautismartist/?fref=ts

Here's the link to the paintings: www.facebook.com/candywatersautismartist/?fref=tsI don't think there is any advantages to being autistic. But neither are there disadvantages. Yes there are many autistics who have done wonderful things like Temple Grandin, John Elder Robinson, Jason Macelwain, but it wasn't because they were autistic. There is no proof that Einstein, Mozart were autistic (maybe one day they will prove). Autism is not like having god like powers but it's not a life threatening disease. I know I race radio control cars better than most people in my class but autism isn't the reason why. (even though sometimes I jokingly think it is). Maybe in some cases it might be helpful but I don't think the world is a better place because of it. I do think we can teach the world to be a more accepting place but I don't think we are the solution to the world's technilogical problems. There is no sliver bullet to autism's biggest problems. Whether it would be cure or acceptance By the way. Wonderful paintings!
