Have any of you been in long-distance relationships where you and your lover met online?
I'm in that situation right now. I met my bf on Wrong Planet and we're in a long-distance relationship until he can move to America (he's from Hungary). I absolutely love him to bits, but I feel as if others would have a hard time understanding that I'm in love with someone I've never met in person. We do video chat, but it's not the same as being in person. Our sensory experiences of each other is limited because of our distance away from each other.
For any of you that has been in this kind of relationship, did it work for you? What was it like for you?

I met my husband online, but we did not have a romantic relationship until we'd met in person. Then we had a long-distance relationship for a little over two years. We took turns visiting each other, but sometimes we were apart for months at a time. It can be done, but it's very difficult emotionally.

Back when I was young, there weren't computers and no such thing as computer dating. We met through friends or at bars, or work or church etc. I did have a long distance relationship for a bit after my first boyfriend graduated college and moved to North ALabama. It didn't last very long, we broke up a few months afterwards.

It's been a few months since you posted, so I am wondering if you two are finally physically together ? IMO, LDRs can be tough, and online LDRs even more so. When you've never been with someone physically or met in real life, it's easy to fantasize qualities to a person and to conjure them up - in your imagination - to be completely to your taste. This may be a let down when you finally meet. At least that was my impression. Post an update, if you have one ?
