We are not here to bash WP. We are not here to compete with WP. This isn't an either/or situation. You can be on WP and here, and AFF and AC, etc etc. WP is a great site and I enjoyed posting there. Over time the rules got too restrictive for me so I left. I started this site for myself and for others who feel that the WP rules may be too restrictive at times as well. We are meant to coexist and not compete. WP will always be bigger, better and more professional than this site, I'm sure. This is just the homey, next door neighbor you can drop in on when you feel like kicking back and relaxing and not being always on your best behavior.
My issue wasn't being told to tone it down there, my issue was being accused of lying, when I wasn't. I can deal with being told to tone it down. The lying accusation was what did it for me. Whether that has been fixed or not, I dont know. I know I haven't received an apology from the person who said I had lied, and I seriously doubt it's been publically addressed. Either way, it doesn't matter. I will happily go back to WP when this overly sensitive heavy handed offense mongering runs it's course. I enjoyed it and will of course miss it, but I will also continue to keep this forum going because I want it to become a friendly group of people who enjoy each others company for the most part and can tolerate each other when we don't enjoy it.
I like Alex very much and he's always been a very sweet boy when I've had any interaction with him. I'm very proud of what he's accomplished and hope he has much more success. Hell, I'd welcome him stopping by as a member from time to time. I'm no competition whatsoever and have no desire to be. While there are lots of things I dislike about WP there are just as many I like about it. I'd more than welcome any advice from Alex or any of the staff over there or long time members. Most people who know me know exactly what it is I dislike about it, and I'd welcome any information and advice about how to run this forum in all the ways I do like WP.
Any contribution from anyone over there would be appreciated, and you would get credit for anything you post of course. I'm not trying to steal members and I encourage people to stay with both forums unless they are just fed up with WP as I am right now. I have nothing against WP itself, just against how it's being at the moment, and the overall tone of it.
I also welcome those who post there at WP who really, really hate me. This is the place you can come to and say all those things to me that would get you banned from WP. We won't ban you here for saying that kind of thing to me, but you'll surely get it right back from me in spades like I couldn't do on WP. And who knows, after all the venom is out we might find out that we agree on other issues or have other common interests. Stranger things have happened.
The mods I'm having will be using a very light hand and mainly only stepping in when absolutely needed. I expect everyone to act like adults and to handle their arguments and insults like adults by either giving it right back, or just moving on and ignoring it. If you need a mod to step in, then ask for one. Only if serious threats and horrible, horrible insults are being bandied about constantly and it gets entirely out of hand would it be time for a mod to step in on something like that. And then only if it isn't a thread about politics, gun control, abortion, or religion, or SEC football. Those things are more important and cause deeper feelings.
If someone wants a mod to step in on an argument they are in, then they should ask and of course one will. Otherwise, unless it's just too bloody, it will probably stay hands off.
So, that's my two cents about here. Join up and have fun. Invite your friends. Enjoy yourself. Cut loose. Say what you want to.
And Roll Tide to you and yours!
