I don't suppose it would work, but I'd be tempted to put a disclaimer on the sign-up page along the lines of, if you are very thin-skinned and get your feelings hurt easily, you might not be well suited to this community.
I know it's kind and all that to be supportive of someone going through hardship, but honestly? I can't be bothered to protect someone who is not quite mature enough to handle a little dissent.

I totally agree, but I'd be afraid that would scare off some folks who could deal with things but might think we are just flaming everyboy all the time or something. But, if people from WP come over here, they know I started it and they know me so they know what to expect. They probably think it's going to be worse than it is, but so what.

Don't worry I won't bite, I would avoid confrontation unless something just screamed delete me :-)
I got my head buried in code too much to pay attention to arguments, I have signed myself for a tall order so it seems but I am learning a lot, thanks for the opportunity OOM. It'll go a long way towards my networking career I am chasing after.

It'll go a long way towards my networking career I am chasing after. No problem. Knock yourself out, have a blast with it. Thanks for doing it for real. You do know you can learn things from MIT for free online from their courses and then just go to those places that test you and certify you in different computer things, right?

I just want to discuss things and not be told that every time I don't agree with someone I'm being "unsupportive". Meanwhile complete asshats discuss visiting prostitutes, and that's A-Okay because god forbid anyone criticizes a male on WP.

Well, this forum was started by a female (albeit a very open-minded one) so maybe things will be different here. There are forums that are mostly for support, and forums that are mostly for information. I'm uncomfortable with the support forums because I don't think that's a very promising role for the Internet. Support can come incidentally as virtual relationships form, but I don't think it can be dictated.

I'm always supportive. If someone's being a stupid jerk, I tell them that so they can improve themselves (That's kind of a joke, but with a grain of truth). I don't think it's supportive to tell people they're right when they're wrong, or that their terrible idea is a great idea, or not to point out anything uncomfortable ever. I don't like to bullshit people, especially aspies who can't decipher it and need straightforward communication.

The support on wp has gone overboard into unhealthy enabling, I think. It also appears quite fake. Disagreement is now seen as not being supportive. Questioning self-diagnosis is the worst unsupportive act one can do on wp. Some people keep bringing up the fact that wp is a support site, but I can't find that written anywhere. I told them to put it on top of each forum page and each thread page, if they want others to support them.

Alex has stated his purpose for creating the site was for support on various media outlets, check youtube. The only one I see as a significant problem is disagreements not being supportive. I think one should use caution with self-diagnosis but I wouldn't say that you should refrain yourself from doing it at all. Also support coming off as enabling is bad but it depends on the circumstance I suppose. The reason this forum to my knowledge was created was to create a place that people can have differing opinions.

It is weird that Alex or mods can't put the support forum message in the about page on wp, or in forums and threads, or even the rules page. It seems like it is implied, and people just use it to say that others for not being supportive enough for disagreeing with them.

I never heard this "be supportive" stuff until a few weeks ago. At the same time they decided to PM a bunch of warnings not to break their vague, subjective, unwritten rules.

Its temporary and I am not offended by your opinion though I respectfully disagree, I am trying to do my job the best way can objectively. Opinions are fine, personal insults are not, its just lock until I get guidance from OOM. As soon as she gives the go ahead it will be unlocked, I simply want everyone, myself included to calm down.

Why not just let people talk? It's just an internetz forum, nothing much at stake here.

Why not just let people talk? It's just an internetz forum, nothing much at stake here. We have from the looks of it lost two good members of the site, beaarthur and Io. Io told me privately he is leaving and I don't know if he will return. I am doing what I feel is in the best interest of the forum. I don't want a bunch of members to get bent out of shape over this, you are totally fine, you stated you opinion, I stated mine. There are no hard feelings, OOM created this site so people can respectfully disagree with people and have a mature debate, I am more than happy to continue to discuss this topic buts lets all take a step back and approach this with some maturity. The thread will be unlocked, again I just need OOM's guidances, she hasn't logged in today, I hope is ok. I don't feel I can run this site by myself, you have my word I will be as objective as I can. We can debate anything and I feel we probably even agree on many topics. Let me just get a clear head right now, I am not happy to have lost members and to have banned a user and to lock a thread. I feel it goes against what OOM wanted, I feel conflicted, I want whats best for the forum, nothing more.
